Apology

My Name is Katja Lawrence, and I am from Upper Sandusky, Ohio. For a short time, I was involved in dissident politics and generated content for a channel on Telegram which disseminated homeschool plans. Unfortunately, a few of the lesson plans were explicitly racist and antisemitic.

In January 2023, my involvement with the Telegram channel was discovered by Antifa and I was subsequently doxxed resulting in widespread media coverage. In the aftermath of the publicity, having received a small taste of what it means to be hated and marginalized, I reflected on my beliefs and actions in a new light. I came to three conclusions:

1. White supremacy is the greatest bait-and-switch of all time. At first, I was told ‘the movement’ was about loving our people and building a safe community for families to thrive in. Before I knew it, I was in a community of drunk, angry, white men who didn’t even respect their own women (“Waaamens”).  White supremacy is just hate, pure and simple.  I had been duped.

2. I discovered I did not recognize who I had become. I was not raised to have these beliefs; I had surrounded myself with fools and had become one in the process.

3. My actions on the internet were mean, hurtful, thoughtless, and reenforced years of systemic problems in our society.

I took the risk of abruptly deleting all content from the Telegram channel, breaking all contact with nazis, and running. I ghosted everyone I knew and left Upper Sandusky, Ohio. I enrolled my children in public school, and began the slow process of unwinding the narratives they had been previously exposed to; I began to help them reintegrate into normal society. I have completely disengaged from politics and meet regularly with a therapist who is helping me process all the change in my life.

I fully disavow nazism, antisemitism, racism, and all forms of bigotry and hate. I have grown as a person and I’m genuinely sorry to all who I’ve offended or upset; I humbly ask for forgiveness.
